Church Council: Meeting in a Minute | September 24, 2024
Church Council met on September 24, 2024. The recent Council meeting had important updates and decisions. Here's a summary of the key points discussed:
Financial update:
UCC Norwell: The church continues to operate within budget, however, pledge collections need to be increased to meet the annual budget.
LPCC: Expenses are essentially on the budget for the year.
The New Nursery School: Due to the start of the school year, there is only one month of financials. Playground is paid in full.
Communications update: Emily Mathews, the Communications Coordinator, joined the Council and discussed strategies to improve communication, including creating a sermon podcast and utilizing social media more effectively. Emily will develop a whole church communications strategy for 2025.
Ministry Team Fair: Plans for the upcoming Ministry Team Fair on September 29th were discussed. The MTF is designed to connect church members at all stages of their involvement. We're looking to engage those who haven't been active in ministry, those who are stepping down from long-term roles, and those who are somewhere in between.
Music Minister search: The results of a survey to gather input on the desired qualities of a new music minister were presented including: the person should have experience leading a church choir, working with children, and be a strong performer themselves. A job description is being drafted and will be ready to post to professional organizations, UCC Conference, and music schools in January.
Nominations: Nominations for various council positions will be opening in October including:
Council At Large (2 men, 1 woman)
Assistant Treasurer position
Safe Church Team (2 at large)
Rapid Response Team (2 at large)
HRC (1 person)
Next meetings: October 29 + November 25 at 7pm, UCCN library
